GOALS OF GROUP TRAINING SESSIONS.

ΟΜΑΔΙΚΕΣ ΠΡΟΠΟΝΗΣΕΙΣ

The main goal of group training sessions is to introduce participants to the philosophy of CaniCross, with the ultimate aim of conditioning your dog and preparing for future events and races.
Get to know each other up close as teams (runner + dog) to understand your capabilities and individualities, with the goal of improvement.
During the training session, it’s possible to form more than one group based on pace and distance capabilities. Indeed, it is the best for newcomers to running (both runners and dogs).
ou socialize your dogs in the environment of a race (many runners, many dogs, lots of “noise,” race atmosphere, intensity, etc.).
You run short to medium distances, “pulling” each other at a better pace. These distances don’t have to be long. Each “team” can train on its own at distances/paces it can handle, having gained experience from our group sessions.
Discuss your equipment, diet, and hydration.

Always wear the recommended equipment (dog harness, waist belt, and bungee leash up to 2m).
The participating dog can be mixed breed or purebred.
The dog’s age must be over 12 months. Younger dogs can join training for shorter distances and paces to gradually gain experience.
A dog over 2 years old can participate in any distance.
Female dogs in heat are not allowed to participate.
Athletes under 12 years old can participate only if accompanied by their parent, both tethered to their dogs
You should have your dog’s Health Booklet with you, showing the Microchip number and recent mandatory vaccinations.
It’s a good idea to consult both your doctor and veterinarian for such activity.

TIPS ΓΙΑ ΑΤΟΜΙΚΕΣ ΠΡΟΠΟΝΗΣΕΙΣ

You and your dog will have a more enjoyable experience if you plan your route in advance. Include green or watery areas in it. There are many forests and parks in Greece with various paths and dirt roads, providing endless possibilities. If you live in a city, try to minimize running on hard surfaces like concrete and asphalt. And most importantly… choose the right equipment to make running with your dog a pleasant experience.
